Dave Brubeck Quartet Blue Rondo à la Turk youtube video

The author of Take five Dave Brubeck plays Blue Rondo à la Turk with is quartet in this video by youtube: it is really amazing!
It is the mixture of complexity, beauty, and spontaneity that makes this album genius. Time Out exhibits a variety of odd rhythmic meters (including 9/8 in Blue Rondo A la Turk) as well as a strange mixture of modes, yet the tunes flow so well. This work is not only highly original, but brilliantly pleasing to the ears.

Reviews about Dave Brubeck : Blue Rondo à la Turk youtube

While Blue Rondo and Take Five are the big classics on this album, the other five tracks are just as good, if not even better. Strange Meadow Lark has a beautiful piano solo in the beginning, elaborating into a great melody for sax. Three to Get Ready is genius in that it's 6/8+4/4 meter feels so natural. Kathy's Waltz is cool because it combines 4/4 and 6/8 melodies together at the same time. Everybody's Jumpin and Pick Up Sticks are both in 6/4 time and are both superb.
